Portal axles lift the truck at the wheels, creating huge centre pumpkin ground clearance. To achieve the same clearance with straight axles, tyres would need to be over an inch taller than those fitted to the TRX-4 Sport.

The portal axles use gear reduction at the wheels to virtually eliminate torque twist. The Titan 550 motor's torque translates into straight, powerful forward motion, rather than wasted energy twisting the rig off the rocks.

When negotiating a slick rock face or powering through a mud bog, traction is paramount. The TRX-4 Sport is fitted with differential spools in both the front and rear axles, providing ultimate grip in the most demanding situations.

Geared for raw torque, the single-speed transmission sheds valuable weight from the TRX-4 Sport's chassis for better weight distribution. Featuring steel gears throughout, it is designed for durability and virtually maintenance-free operation.

Built from 1.5mm thick steel rails and moulded cross members, the TRX-4 Sport's ladder frame provides an extremely rigid backbone. The design allows four wheelbase positions: 300mm, 312mm, 324mm, and 336mm. Wire routing clips are integrated into the frame rails, and bumpers, rock rails, and rear shock tower positions are all adjustable.

The TRX-4 Sport's lightweight pickup truck body is designed to keep the centre of gravity low. Low-profile bumpers increase both the approach and departure angles, and the clipless design gives a clean exterior appearance. A rugged internal body cage adds rigidity, while red differential covers and D-rings add off-road style.

The TRX-4 Sport runs oil-filled coil-over GTS shocks with silver-anodised aluminium bodies and threaded collars for straightforward ride-height adjustment. O-ring cap seals and dual X-ring shaft seals are fitted as standard. Exclusive to the TRX-4 chassis, these coil-overs deliver silky-smooth damping and bring convincing scale realism to the suspension.

The XL-5 HV electronic speed control supports 2s-3s LiPo and 6-7-cell NiMH batteries. The Titan 21T brushed motor includes an internal cooling fan, and the combination provides torque for the steepest climbs and speed on flat terrain. Traxxas quotes up to 2 hours of run time with a 3s 5000mAh LiPo pack.

The TQ 2.4GHz 2-channel radio system includes an ergonomic transmitter with an internal antenna, a Traxxas 6519 micro receiver with fail-safe security, and a patented O-ring sealed watertight receiver box. The TQ's advanced programming provides long-range control with smooth, glitch-free performance, and the system is designed to be comfortable and easy to use.
