Details

The P-47G Thunderbolt "Snafu" is a striking semi-scale warbird that delivers scale realism, rugged presence, and enjoyable flying performance. With a 1.6m (63") wingspan and electric retracts pre-installed, this ARTF model offers an excellent blend of convenience and realism for intermediate to advanced pilots.

Crafted from lightweight balsa and plywood, the airframe is strong yet agile, supporting 15–20cc petrol engines or electric power systems. The model features a factory-painted fibreglass cowl, scale cockpit, drop tanks, and optional bombs—along with functional flaps and large control surfaces for smooth, stable flight or spirited warbird manoeuvres. A standout both on the ground and in the air.

About the original:
The Republic P-47G Thunderbolt was a variant of the iconic WWII fighter, built under licence by Curtiss. Known for its formidable size, firepower, and resilience, the P-47 became a cornerstone of Allied air power. The "Snafu" livery pays tribute to one of the most recognisable aircraft flown by the 78th Fighter Group, operating out of RAF Duxford. Revered for bomber escort and ground-attack roles, the P-47 earned its place as a rugged and fearsome presence in the skies.
